Thaen Mittai is a bright Orange, Sugar-Coated Sweet that evokes childhood nostalgia for many in Kerala. Despite its name, which means "Honey Candy", it does not contain Honey but is instead made from Rice and Urad Dal Batter, deep-fried, and soaked in Sugar Syrup. This crunchy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside Candy was once a staple village Sweet. where kids would buy them for just a few Paise. Though not as common today, it remains a cherished part of Kerala’s Traditional Sweet Culture.
